Beatrice Medicine was born in 1923 in the city of the United States.

 In 1945 Medicine received her bocce's degree from South Dakota University. She stayed with different tribes and learned how they lived. She went to school in  1954. In 1983, she received her phd in anthropology. Shortly before she died, Medicine received a special amand from the could for lifelong dedication to education in anthropology. she  was an academic anthropologist and educator known for her  work in the fields of indigenous languages cultures and history she won awards in(1991)distinguished Service award from the american anthropological association she was the first woman in literature
